I have noticed in the release notes for version 6.5.4 ( commit 2d4e2b4 by @MrAlex94 ) that RLBox was disabled, as mentioned with the line Disable RLBox in the changelog. I was hoping you could provide some clarification on why this decision was made. RLBox, as I understand it from its use in Firefox, is a sandboxing framework designed to improve security by isolating third-party libraries. Its removal seems like a significant change, and I’m curious about the reasoning behind it.
Could you please share:
The primary motivation for disabling RLBox (e.g., performance, compatibility, maintenance, etc.)?
Whether this is a temporary or permanent change?
Any potential security or functionality impacts Waterfox users should be aware of?
I couldn’t find a detailed explanation in the commit or related discussions, so I thought I’d ask here to better understand the decision. I’m sure others in the community might be interested in this as well.
Thank you!
