If you run Theme Manager on a computer without ArcGIS or with a different version of ArcGIS than it was built for, you will get a confusing Unhandled Exception error dialog whenever you try to do an operation requiring ArcGIS (preview a theme, reading or rendering metadata in a geodatabase, adding or reloading a theme based on a layer file or map document). The error dialog should clearly state the problem or be replaced with a clear explanation in the preview or metadata tabs. Note previewing metadata does not show the error dialog, but the explanation in the display should be clearer.
